Built for backyards
Westchester was developed mostly in the 1940s and 50s, much of it as housing for workers at the aircraft plants and airport nearby. The result is a neighborhood of single-story ranch and mid-century homes on generous, mostly flat lots, with the Loyola Marymount campus on the bluff and LAX on its southern edge. Many families have been here for decades, and plenty of backyards had a grill island built in the 1990s or 2000s that's still in use.
Those older built-ins are a big part of our work in Westchester. They were usually decent grills to begin with. What wears out is the inside: burners corroded through, valves that stick, igniters long dead, and grease trays that rusted out and got replaced with a sheet of foil.
What a restoration on an older built-in looks like
- 1
Assess
We pull the grates and burners, check the valves, manifold and gas connections, and tell you what's worth saving. Sometimes it's most of the grill, sometimes not.
- 2
Source parts
Our techs carry common parts for premium brands. For discontinued models we track down OEM or quality universal replacements.
- 3
Rebuild
Burners, heat plates, grates, igniters and any failed valves get replaced. The firebox is degreased and the grease path rebuilt.
- 4
Polish and test
Exterior stainless is cleaned and polished, the grill is leak-tested and fired up, and we check that every burner lights and heats evenly.
More on the process is on our restoration page. If the parts no longer exist, we'll say so. In that case, we can fit a new grill into your existing island; see replacing a built-in in the same cutout for how that works and finding parts for discontinued grills for what's still possible on older units.

Westchester FAQ
My built-in grill is from the 1990s. Can it still be repaired?
Often, yes. Many grills from that era have standard burner and valve designs. We'll check part availability before recommending a rebuild.
Do you replace grills in old islands?
Yes. We're a dealer and can measure the cutout, suggest grills that fit and handle the installation.
How long does a restoration take?
If we have the parts, often a single visit. If parts need to be ordered, we'll clean and assess first and come back to finish.
What does it cost?
That depends on the grill's size, brand and condition, and what needs replacing. Call or text us or send photos for a quote.
