A neighborhood of people who cook outside
Spend time in Eagle Rock backyards and you notice a pattern. The gas grill is there, but so is an offset smoker, a pellet grill, a ceramic kamado, a wood-fired pizza oven, or a flat-top griddle someone uses every Sunday morning. People here take outdoor cooking seriously, and that means more equipment to keep up.
Each piece gets dirty differently. Smokers build creosote and grease on the inside of the cook chamber and in the stack. Pellet grills collect ash in the fire pot and sawdust in the auger. Pizza ovens get soot on the dome and ash in the floor. Griddles need their seasoning looked after and their grease troughs cleared. We work on all of it.

A lot of Eagle Rock is built into hillsides. Streets climb steeply off Colorado Boulevard and Yosemite Drive, and plenty of homes have a backyard that's up or down a flight of steps from the street. The housing is a mix of Craftsman bungalows, Spanish revivals and mid-century houses, often with a patio that was added piece by piece over the decades.
That means our techs are often carrying a grill's worth of tools up a garden staircase or working on a small terrace with no room to spread out. It's normal for us. If a grill or smoker needs to be moved for the work, we'll talk it over with you first.
Cleaning a smoker, the way we do it
Gas grills get a similar treatment, but smokers have a few extra steps.
- 1
Empty the ash and grease
Fire box, ash pan and grease bucket get cleared and bagged.
- 2
Scrape the chamber
Loose carbon and flaking buildup comes off the walls and lid. We leave a light seasoning layer rather than stripping to bare metal.
- 3
Clean grates and racks
Racks are degreased with food-safe cleaners and rinsed.
- 4
Check the moving parts
Dampers, hinges, gaskets, thermometers and, on pellet grills, the igniter rod and auger.
- 5
Run a test fire
We bring it up to temperature to confirm it holds heat and draws properly.

Eagle Rock questions
Can you service my grill and smoker on the same visit?
Yes, and most people do. Tell us what you have when you book so we bring the right parts and enough time.
My pellet grill won't ignite. Can you fix that?
Often. It's usually a failed igniter rod, a full fire pot, or a jammed auger. We'll diagnose it on site.
Do you replace pizza oven stones?
We inspect them and can source replacements for many ovens. Cracks are common and don't always mean the stone needs replacing.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what you have, its size, brand and condition, and any parts. Call or text or send photos for a quote.
