A grill season that runs most of the year

Monrovia sits at the base of the San Gabriels, farther inland than most of the cities we cover, and summers here are reliably hot. Stretches over 100 degrees aren't unusual from July through September, and warm evenings carry into fall. In practice, a lot of households here grill from April to November.

That's a long season for one grill. By the end of it, grease trays are full, heat plates are coated, and burners that worked fine in spring have started to sputter. Rather than waiting for something to break, many Monrovia homeowners have us out twice a year on a maintenance plan: once before the heat arrives and once when it eases off.

A twice-a-year schedule that works here

Historic bungalows to hillside newer builds

Monrovia has a big stock of older homes. The neighborhoods around Old Town and Myrtle Avenue are full of Craftsman bungalows and Victorians, many with small backyards and freestanding grills. North of Foothill Boulevard, the streets rise toward the mountains, and newer homes on larger hillside lots often have built-in islands and outdoor kitchens. Near Canyon Park, homes back right up to the foothills and see their share of wildlife and brush debris.

We work across all of it, and we adjust: a compact setup for a tight bungalow yard, carry-in gear for a hillside terrace, a full outdoor kitchen service for the bigger properties.

Between visits

A few habits that keep a hard-working grill in better shape.

  • Burn off the grates for ten minutes after cooking, then brush
  • Empty the grease cup every few cookouts in summer
  • Keep a breathable cover on when the grill is cool
  • Wipe stainless with the grain using a mild cleaner
  • Check the flame color now and then; it should be mostly blue

Monrovia grill questions

How do I know if I need a cleaning or a repair?

If the grill lights and heats evenly but smokes and flares, it needs a cleaning. If a burner won't light, the igniter doesn't spark or heat is weak, there's likely a repair involved too. We handle both on one visit.

Does heat damage the grill when it's not in use?

Constant sun fades knobs, dries out hoses and stresses electronic ignition. Shade and a cover help a lot.

Can you service grills in Bradbury and Duarte too?

Yes, along with the rest of the foothill cities nearby.

What will it cost?

That depends on the grill's size, brand, condition and parts. Call or text or send a couple of photos for a quote.
