Burbank sits at the east end of the San Fernando Valley, and it gets Valley weather. Summer highs regularly land in the upper 90s and climb past 100 during heat waves, and the evenings stay warm enough that people grill well into October. A grill parked on a south-facing patio here spends months heat-soaking in direct sun, even when it isn't lit.
That sun does specific damage. Plastic knobs and bezels fade and crack. Rubber gas hoses dry out and split. Electronic ignition modules and battery boxes get cooked. Grease left inside the grill bakes into a shell that's much harder to remove than it would have been in spring. None of it is unusual, and most of it is a straightforward fix.
Summer-damage checklist for Burbank grills
Things to look at on your own before calling. If you find any of these, it's worth a service visit.
- Knobs cracked, faded or spinning loose on the valve stem
- Propane hose stiff or showing fine cracks near the fittings
- Igniter clicks but the spark is weak or missing
- Battery compartment corroded from heat
- Grease tray baked solid rather than liquid
- Hood thermometer stuck or fogged
- Stainless with yellow or bronze discoloration on the lid
Burbank housing and the grills that go with it
Much of Burbank is mid-century single-family housing on regular lots, and the typical setup is a freestanding gas grill or a modest built-in island added at some point. In the Rancho equestrian neighborhood near Griffith Park, properties run larger and outdoor kitchens tend to be more elaborate. The hillside streets above Glenoaks and around Brace Canyon have bigger patios with views across the Valley, plus the steeper driveways and tighter turns that come with them. Near the Media District and downtown, there are more condos and apartment buildings with shared grills.
Each of those is a slightly different job, and we plan for it when we book.

Learn moreBurbank grill FAQ
Should I keep my grill in the shade?
If you can, yes. Shade and a breathable cover cut down on faded knobs and dried-out hoses. Just don't park it somewhere with poor ventilation or under a low overhang.
Can you convert my grill from propane to natural gas?
On many models, yes, using the manufacturer's conversion parts. See gas conversion, and keep in mind a gas line has to be run to the grill.
Do you work in the Rancho area?
Yes, along with every other part of Burbank.
What does service cost?
That depends on the grill's size, brand, condition and any parts it needs. Call or text, or send photos, and we'll give you a quote.
