La Puente is one of the older communities in the San Gabriel Valley, with neighborhoods of single-family homes built mostly after World War II, plus the surrounding unincorporated areas like Valinda and parts of Bassett that share the same ZIP codes. Yards are practical, and so are the grills. We see a lot of freestanding gas grills from the big-box stores, some built-ins, and plenty of grills that have been kept going for years.
Those grills are worth keeping going. A mid-range grill with a solid firebox can usually be put back in shape with new igniters, burners or heat plates. You don't have to buy a new one because a part wore out.
Troubleshooting before you call
A few things you can check on your own. If none of them solve it, we'll take it from there.
It clicks but won't light
Check the igniter battery if your grill uses one (often behind the ignition button). Make sure the tank valve is fully open. If you smell gas when clicking, stop, turn the gas off and give it a few minutes before trying again.
The flame is low no matter what
Propane regulators can go into a safety bypass mode if the tank is opened too fast. Turn everything off, close the tank, disconnect the hose, wait a minute, reconnect and open the tank slowly. Our guide why your grill won't get hot explains why this works.
The flames are yellow and sooty
Usually spiders or debris in the burner tubes. That needs the burners pulled and cleaned. See yellow flame on a gas grill.

Learn moreHow we clean
We use biodegradable, food-safe degreasers and hot water. Drop cloths go down first, and all the grease and dirty rinse water gets caught and taken away. Nothing gets hosed into your yard or the gutter. Summer heat in La Puente is hard on grills, so a cleaning before the hot months keeps baked-on grease from becoming a fire hazard.
La Puente FAQ
Do you fix store-bought grills, or just high-end ones?
Both. We carry parts for common brands like Weber and many others, and can order parts for most models.
Is it worth fixing an older grill?
Often, if the firebox and frame are solid. Our guide repair or replace walks through the decision.
Do you work in Valinda and the unincorporated areas?
Yes. We serve all of La Puente and the surrounding areas.
How much does a repair cost?
It depends on the part and the grill. Call or text, or send photos, and we'll quote it.
