About the neighborhood
View Park-Windsor Hills is an unincorporated community in Los Angeles County, on the slopes of the Baldwin Hills just west of Leimert Park and south of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw area. It's two older neighborhoods combined into one census area. Most homes went up between the 1920s and the 1960s, and many were custom designed, with Spanish Colonial Revival, Mediterranean, Tudor and mid-century styles all within a few blocks. A large part of View Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The streets curve with the hills, and lots step up or down from the street. Backyards often sit on terraces with a view toward downtown or the Westside, which makes the patio the natural place to cook and host.
Grills that have been around a while
Plenty of families here have owned their homes for decades, and the outdoor cooking areas reflect that. We regularly see built-in grills that went in 15 or 25 years ago, set in brick or stucco islands that still look fine. The grill inside is another story: burners thinned out, valves that turn stiffly, an igniter that quit years ago, and a temperature gauge stuck at zero.
The good news is that a well-built grill can usually be brought back. Our restoration service replaces the parts that wear out and leaves the parts that don't. When a grill truly is finished, we can install a new one in the old island without disturbing the masonry, which is our sales and replacement service.
What we check on every visit
A cleaning is also a chance to catch problems early. On every job we look at:
- Gas hose, regulator and connections, with a leak test
- Burner condition and port blockages
- Igniter spark and wiring
- Valve operation and knob fit
- Grease tray, drip pan and grease path
- Heat plates, grates and firebox for rust-through
- Hood hinges, handle and gauge
More than the grill
Gas fireplaces
Many homes here have gas fireplaces, inside and out. We clean logs and burners and check the pilot and safety valve.
Learn moreFire pits
A fire pit on a view terrace gets used a lot in the cooler months. We fix ignition and flame problems.
Learn moreGas leak checks
A faint smell near the grill should never be ignored. We find the source and repair it.
Learn moreAnnual inspections
A safety-focused visit for grills that haven't been looked at in years.
Learn moreAccess on hillside streets
Some homes here have steep driveways, steps up to the backyard or limited parking out front. That's fine. Our techs carry what they need by hand and work from the patio. If there's a gate code, a side path or a dog we should know about, mention it when you book. Common questions
Is View Park-Windsor Hills part of the City of Los Angeles?
No, it's unincorporated Los Angeles County. It doesn't change anything about our service. We cover the whole area.
My grill hasn't been used in years. Is it safe to light?
Don't light it until someone has checked it. Spiders, rodents and rust can block burners or damage hoses. Book an inspection and we'll make sure it's safe first.
Can you match a new grill to my old island?
In most cases. We measure the cutout and offer grills that fit, so the island stays as it is.
What will it cost?
That depends on the size, brand and condition of the grill, plus any parts. Call or text us or send a couple of photos and we'll quote it.
