Backyards made for grilling
Most of Cheviot Hills was built in the 1920s through the 1950s on curving streets west of Motor Avenue and around Cheviot Hills Park. Lots are larger than in much of the Westside, and many backyards have a pool and an outdoor kitchen. A good number of those kitchens were added during remodels in the 1990s and 2000s, so the grills in them are now well into their second decade.
Those grills tend to be well built and worth keeping, with a few usual weak spots. Burners rust out from the inside. Igniter electrodes crack. Rotisserie motors stop turning. And the mature trees that make the neighborhood pleasant drop leaves, seed pods and sap onto the hood, which hold moisture and attract pests if they sit.

Learn moreGetting ready for summer
The most useful time to call is late spring, before the first big weekend. A grill that sat covered through winter often has spider webs in the burner tubes, a grease tray that was never emptied, and an igniter battery that died months ago. A pre-season cleaning catches all of that, and gives you time to replace a part before the Fourth of July instead of during it.
If you'd rather handle the prep yourself, our summer prep guide walks through it, and the soap test guide shows how to check connections safely.
Upgrading an older outdoor kitchen
Some homeowners decide it's time for more than a repair, either because the grill is past saving or because they want features it never had, like an infrared sear burner or brighter hood lights. As a dealer, we can recommend a grill that fits the existing cutout and install it, so the island stays put. Our guide on measuring a grill cutout explains how fit is determined.
Cheviot Hills questions
When is the best time to schedule a cleaning?
Late spring is popular, so book early. Fall is also good, after a summer of heavy use.
Can you fix my rotisserie?
Usually. Motors, brackets and rear infrared burners are common repairs, and parts exist for most premium brands.
Will tree sap damage my stainless?
Not right away, but sap and leaves trap moisture and grime. Wipe it off when you can, and we'll clean off any buildup during service.
What does it cost?
That depends on size, brand, condition and parts. Call or text, or send a couple of photos, and we'll quote it.
