Rancho Park is a small neighborhood tucked between Pico Boulevard, Overland Avenue and the Rancho Park Golf Course, with Cheviot Hills to the south and Century City just east. Most of it is single-family homes: Spanish and Traditional houses on tidy lots, many remodeled over the years. Backyards are a comfortable size, not sprawling, and the grill is usually a good freestanding cart or a modest built-in on a patio.
Because the neighborhood is a few miles inland, grills here don't take the beating from salt that they do in Venice or Santa Monica. The usual enemies are simpler: grease that builds up over many cookouts, spiders and insects that move in during the off months, and parts that wear out after ten or fifteen years.
What a cleaning actually includes
People are sometimes surprised how much comes apart. Here's the short version.
- 1
Disassembly
Grates, heat plates or Flavorizer bars, burners and the drip tray all come out.
- 2
Firebox and hood
Carbon and grease get scraped and degreased from the inside of the hood and the firebox walls.
- 3
Burners and ports
Each burner is cleared, venturi tubes are checked for spider webs, and ports are opened up.
- 4
Reassembly and test
Everything goes back in, connections get a leak test, and every burner is lit and checked for an even blue flame.
- 5
Exterior
The outside gets cleaned and, on stainless, polished with the grain.
The full version is in our guide to what happens during a professional grill cleaning. If you're wondering whether you need a deep clean or a lighter service, basic vs. deep cleaning explains the difference.

Rancho Park FAQ
How long does a cleaning take?
For most standard grills, a couple of hours. Larger built-ins, or ones that need repairs, take longer.
Do I need to be home?
Not always. If we can reach the grill through a side gate and you can answer a question by phone, that's usually enough.
Can you assemble a new grill I bought?
Yes. See grill assembly. We'll also leak-test it and confirm everything lights.
What will it cost?
It depends on the grill's size, brand, condition and any parts. Call or text, or send a couple of photos, for a quote.
