Three kinds of Hollywood grill
Hollywood is a dense, mostly flat part of Los Angeles below the hills, built up from the 1910s onward and rebuilt many times since. Housing ranges from early courtyard apartments and bungalow courts to single-family streets such as Spaulding Square and the blocks around Franklin Avenue, to the newer mid-rise and high-rise buildings that have gone up along Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset and Vine. Commercially, it's dense with restaurants and bars.
For us, that breaks into three types of work, each with different needs.
What we service
Building amenity grills
Rooftop and pool-deck grills on apartment and condo buildings, used constantly by residents and rarely cleaned. We set them on a schedule and keep records for management.
Learn moreHome grills
Freestanding and built-in grills behind houses and duplexes. Cleaning, igniter and burner repair, and replacement when needed.
Learn moreRestaurant and bar grills
Char-broilers, flat-tops and patio grills at commercial kitchens. Cleaning scheduled around service hours.
Learn morePatio heaters
Restaurant patios and rooftop lounges rely on them. We repair heaters that won't stay lit or burn weakly.
Learn moreRooftop grills take a beating
A grill on a tenth-floor roof deck sits in full sun all day and gets used by dozens of people who don't own it. The result is predictable: grease trays that overflow, grates caked with carbon, burners clogged with drippings, and igniters that stop working because someone pressed the button a hundred times with the gas off. Exposed roofs also get more wind, which blows out flames and pushes grease smoke toward the building.
Regular service keeps these grills from becoming a liability. We recommend quarterly cleaning for busy rooftops and a quick safety check of hoses and connections on each visit. If you manage a building, our HOA grill maintenance guide lays out a schedule that works for most properties.
Suggested schedules
A starting point. Heavier use means more frequent visits.
| Setting | Typical use | Cleaning frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Private home grill | Weekend cooking | Once or twice a year |
| Shared building grill | Daily in summer, weekly otherwise | Every 3 months |
| Restaurant patio or bar grill | Every service | Monthly or more, depending on volume |
For restaurants
We clean commercial grills before opening or after close, so you don't lose service time. Grease is contained and removed, and nothing ends up in the alley or the storm drain. See commercial grill cleaning schedules for how often different kitchens need service. Note that we service the grill itself; hood and exhaust duct cleaning is a separate trade.

Hollywood questions
Can you get equipment up to a rooftop?
Yes. We bring everything up in the freight or service elevator and protect the deck surface. Tell us about building rules or certificate of insurance requirements when you book.
Do you clean restaurant hoods and ducts?
No. We clean and repair grills, char-broilers, griddles and patio heaters. Hood and exhaust cleaning should be done by a hood cleaning company.
My building's grill clicks but won't light. Can you fix it the same day?
Often. Our techs carry common igniters and electrodes. Our page on grills that won't light explains the usual causes.
How much does service cost?
That depends on the number of grills, their size, brand and condition, and any parts. Call or text or send photos for a quote.
