Larchmont Village is a small Los Angeles neighborhood centered on the shops and cafes of Larchmont Boulevard, between Hancock Park to the west and Windsor Square and Hollywood to the east and north. Most of the residential streets were built in the 1920s with Craftsman, Spanish Colonial and English-style homes on narrow lots with detached garages at the back. The backyards are small to medium, often shaded by big trees, and many have been remodeled over the years with patios and outdoor kitchens.
The grills here are rarely showpieces. They're the ones used for weeknight dinners and kids' birthday parties, which means they get dirty fast.
A year of grill care in Larchmont
A rough calendar that fits how most families here cook.
| When | What to do | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Early spring | Deep cleaning and inspection | Clears winter debris, leaves and any nests before grilling season starts |
| Memorial Day to Labor Day | Burn off after each use, empty the grease tray monthly | Heavy summer use builds grease fast |
| Fall | Check the fire pit and patio heater | Evenings cool off and those get used again |
| Winter | Keep it covered with a breathable cover; light it every few weeks | Keeps rodents and spiders from moving in during slower months |
Shade trees and small yards
The mature trees that make Larchmont's streets so pleasant also shed leaves, flowers and seed pods into grills. Combined with grease, that debris turns into a mat that clogs the grease path and catches fire. Small yards mean the grill is usually close to the house, a fence or the garage, so a flare-up matters more. A once- or twice-a-year deep cleaning keeps it under control; our page on flare-ups and grease fires explains why they happen.
Inland from the beach, Larchmont doesn't face the salt problems of Santa Monica or Playa del Rey. Summer heat and steady use are the bigger factors.

Larchmont FAQ
Can you come on a weekend?
Yes. We work seven days a week. Weekend slots fill quickly in spring and early summer, so book a little ahead.
How long does a cleaning take?
A couple of hours for most home grills, longer for a large built-in or an outdoor kitchen with several appliances.
Do I need to be home?
Not necessarily. If we can reach the backyard and the gas supply, we can do the work and send you photos when we're done.
What will it cost?
Pricing depends on the grill's size, brand and condition, and any parts. Call or text us or send a couple of photos for a quote.
