WhittierGrill Cleaning & BBQ Repair

Whittier covers a lot of ground, and the grills change as you go. Older bungalows around Uptown, mid-century ranch homes across the flats, and larger houses in the hills toward the Puente Hills each bring different jobs.

Three kinds of Whittier backyard

Uptown and the older neighborhoods

Around Uptown and the college, many homes date from the early and middle 1900s. Yards are modest and grills tend to be freestanding, often on a back patio under a mature tree. Leaf litter and spiders are the usual trouble, along with rust on carts that have sat under a dripping tree for years.

The ranch-home flats

South and east of the older core, Whittier is mostly single-story homes from the 1950s and 60s. Plenty of these have had a built-in grill added somewhere along the way, in a block or stucco island along the back patio. Those grills are often the original install and now need burners, igniters or a full replacement into the same cutout.

The hills

North of Whittier Boulevard and up toward the Puente Hills, lots get larger and the outdoor kitchens bigger. These homes back onto open hillside and brush, so they see more wind, more dust and, in some years, ash from fires burning in the region.

Our guide to Santa Ana winds, ash and your outdoor kitchen goes further. If the wind has knocked over a freestanding grill or bent the lid, see hood, hinge and handle repair.

Freestanding or built-in?

A question we get a lot in Whittier, especially from people replacing an old cart grill on a ranch-home patio: should the next one be a built-in? Built-ins look finished and usually last longer, but they need an island and often a gas line. Freestanding grills are cheaper to replace and easy to move. Neither is the right answer for everyone. We break it down in freestanding vs. built-in grills, and we're happy to talk it through when we're out.

Whittier grill FAQ

Do you cover all of Whittier, including the unincorporated areas?

Yes. We cover the city and the surrounding unincorporated Whittier neighborhoods.

Our built-in is from the 1990s. Can you still get parts?

Often, yes. Many brands from that era still have parts available, and universal parts fit others. If not, we can replace the grill in the same island.

Can you check our grill after a nearby fire?

Yes. We clean off the ash, check burners and tubes, and make sure everything lights properly before you use it.

How much will it cost?

That depends on the grill's size, brand, condition and any parts. Call or text, or send a few photos, for a quote.
